Zeme: Goddess of the Earth
In Baltic religion, earth is sacralized. Thus, the goddess Zeme is named after the direct translation of the Latvian word for earth. Sometimes called Zemes MΔte, translated as "earth mother," she holds a very central role in the religious system of the Baltic peoples. Inspired by her undoubtable femininity, Zeme's role is that of a mother, in direct connection with the promotion of fertility. Her purview extends to all things in nature that follows the path of birth, growth, and death. Therefore, even humanity is drawn into this all-encompassing cult, from the first breath to the last. Credited with both the giving and the taking of life, Zeme embodies the cyclical rhythm of nature, showing that what comes from the earth must eventually return to it.All of our malas are made with genuine high quality semi-precious stones that each carry their own special and specific energetic properties to help you attract or overcome certain feelings, thoughts and emotions.
This mala necklace is part of our Element Collection, representing the Earth Element.
This traditional Tibetan mala has 108 beads, plus 3 marker beads (not to be counted in meditation), and a guru bead and silk tassel.
Elements: Baltic Amber, with Turquoise marker beads and Tibetan Brass guru bead with Turquoise inlay. The tassel is 100% spun silk in variegated shades of burgundy and gold.
Thread: This necklace has been strung with Burgundy color Nylon thread for its strength and durability, especially important when working with natural stones, as their hard edges can sometimes rub against and weaken other threads such as cotton or silk.
All of our malas are hand-knotted between each bead, which protects your beads should the necklace ever break. It also helps alleviate potential damage caused by beads rubbing against each other.
Note: This mala is made with 100% genuine Baltic Amber that has washed up or been fished from the shores of the Baltic Sea. These beads are a Boroque shape, which is an organic shape found in nature, not perfectly round. This mala is available with raw or polished Amber, in a color assortment including clear and opaque white, traditional honey and cognac colors, and a very dark brown as well. If you would like to order this mala in a single shade of Amber, please send us a message and we can create a custom order for you, but it may take a little bit longer depending on how long it takes for us to order the beads, as they come directly from the Baltic region in Europe. As these beads are found in nature, not manufactured, their sizes are not all uniform. These beads range in size from approximately 4-6mm. Please specify which finish you would like for your mala at checkout.
All our mala designs are also available in 27 bead pocket malas, as well as intention bracelets and more delicate wire-wrapped jewelry.
